Chapter 7 - The Mastermind

The voice coming through the loudspeaker wasn't a gangster's. It was polished, refined, and instantly recognizable to Lena.

It was her father, Arthur Marsh.

A massive luxury yacht glided out of the fog, its searchlights pinning Julian and Lena to the deck of the barge. Armed men lined the yacht's deck, weapons aimed down at them.

Arthur Marsh stood at the bow, wearing a tailored coat, looking down at his daughter with a calm, businesslike smile.

"Hello, sweetheart," Arthur said over the microphone. "I see you met my old business associate."

"You're alive..." Lena choked out, standing up on the slick deck despite Julian trying to hold her back. "You let me mourn you for two years! You left me with nothing!"

"I left you in a position to be useful," Arthur replied casually. "Julian Vance spent two years protecting you because he thought you were the key to my empire. And while he was busy watching you from the shadows, I was quietly draining his international holdings. It was a brilliant play, really."

"She's your daughter!" Julian snarled, standing up in front of Lena, putting his body between her and the rifles trained on them.

"She's a Marsh," Arthur corrected coldly. "And in our family, everything has a price. Step away from her, Julian. The Castillos have already paid for her delivery."

Lena looked at Julian's back—broad, bloody, and unyielding. She looked at her father, a man who had traded her like a piece of property.

A cold, calm clarity washed over her. The weakness, the fear, the confusion—it all burned away, leaving behind something sharp and dangerous.

"You're right, Dad," Lena spoke up, her voice echoing across the water, surprisingly clear and strong. "Everything has a price."

Chapter Hook: Lena reached into Julian's tactical belt from behind, pulled his secondary detonator, and pressed the red button before Julian could stop her.
