Chapter 10 - The New FoundationMonday morning arrived crisp and clear. I pulled my sedan—now with a full tank of gas and a fresh engine tune-up paid for by my retroactive settlement—into the main parking lot of Silver Pine’s primary distribution hub.

I wore my old, faded flannel work shirt, heavy steel-toed boots, and a tool belt slung over my shoulder. No suit. No tie. Just a man and his diagnostic tools.
As I walked across the loading dock, a young floor technician carrying a clipboard looked up, doing a double-take as he recognized my face from the corporate newsletter announcement that had gone out to all 15,000 employees over the weekend.
"Wait," the kid stammered, dropping his clipboard in sheer shock. "You're... you're the new National Director? The guy who took down Caleb Kesler?"
I stopped, flashing him a reassuring grin, and tossed him a spare roll of electrical tape from my belt.

"Forget the titles, kid," I said, clapping him on the shoulder as I pointed toward a humming, vibrating compressor unit against the far wall. "The title doesn't keep the milk cold. Grab your manifold gauges—we’ve got a refrigeration leak to fix before the morning shift hits full load."
The kid grinned, picked up his clipboard, and followed me right into the heart of the machine room.
