Chapter 6 - The Velvet Cage

Three months later, the Corven Tower lobby had changed. The old security gates were replaced, and a new, highly vetted detail patrolled the marble floors under strict orders from the top. But the most significant change resided seventy floors above the city streets.
Nora and Ella no longer wore scuffed shoes or oversized, threadbare coats. They attended private academy during the day, driven by armored town cars, and returned each afternoon to a penthouse filled with laughter, warmth, and a security detail that treated them like actual princesses.
Yet, they still kept a small shelf in the corner of the grand salon. On it sat an empty paper cup—preserved inside a glass case like a crown jewel. It was their reminder of where they had started, and the strange, terrifying man who had walked out of the snow to change their universe.
Dominic sat at his mahogany desk, reviewing the monthly financial ledgers of the newly restructured Moretti shipping conglomerate. The door clicked open, and soft, hurried footsteps echoed across the floor.
