Chapter 20 - A New Horizon

One year later, the medical school graduation ceremony at the Autonomous University of Nuevo León was packed to capacity. In the front row, holding a small bouquet of white lilies, sat a four-year-old boy in a tiny tailored suit, clapping with all his might.
Next to him sat Alejandro Ríos, wearing a quiet, proud smile that no cartel boss had ever dared to wear.
On stage, Dr. Valeria Gómez walked up to the podium, her black graduation gown flowing around her, her dark eyes shining with absolute triumph. She looked out into the crowd, locking eyes directly with Alejandro and Mateo.
Later that evening, back at the estate in San Pedro, the stone walls were completely covered in blossoming jasmine, and the iron gates stood wide open to the world. There were no guards hiding in the shadows, no weapons in the study, and no fear in the hallways.
Out on the emerald lawn, Mateo chased the golden retriever puppy, his laughter echoing joyfully into the evening air.
On the veranda, Valeria sat beside Alejandro, resting her head comfortably against his shoulder as he poured two cups of hot tea.

"You know," Valeria smiled softly, looking out at the sunset, "for a former cartel boss, you make a surprisingly good domestic partner."
Alejandro wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her closer, a warm, genuine smile gracing his lips. "It only took a stubborn girl from Santa Catarina to teach me how to live in the light."
