Chapter 14 - A NEW DAWN FOR EMILYThe Charlotte Survivors' Advocacy Center was bustling with life, hope, and healing. Sunlight poured through the large glass windows of the newly renovated facility, illuminating walls painted in soft, calming tones of blue and gold.

Emily stood at the front desk, organizing resource pamphlets for incoming families, her movements confident and grounded. The shadows of the past—the locked guest house, the torn designer dress, the bruises—were fading into distant memory, replaced by the strength of a survivor who now stood as a beacon of hope for others.

The front glass door chimed, and I walked in wearing my civilian attire, carrying a large bouquet of fresh sunflowers.

Emily looked up, her face lighting up with a radiant smile. She dropped her clipboard and practically ran around the desk, throwing her arms tightly around my waist.

"Mom! You actually made it!" she laughed, burying her face in my shoulder.

I wrapped my arms around her, kissing her forehead. "Did you really think a Brigadier General would miss her daughter's first successful week as director?"

"Never," Emily whispered, pulling back to look at me with shining eyes. "Thank you, Mom. For everything. For not backing down when they thought they owned the world."

"I told you before, sweetheart," I said softly, looking around the thriving center filled with people reclaiming their lives. "We are Harts. We don't break. We rebuild."
