Chapter 4 - The Frozen Empire

By the end of the week, I was discharged from the hospital and moved directly into a high-security penthouse suite overlooking Lake Michigan, secured under an anonymous corporate trust.
Flynn had tried to visit me three times, camping out in the hospital lobby until hospital security escorted him off the premises. He had sent hundreds of text messages, frantic emails, and voicemail after voicemail begging for forgiveness, claiming he was insane with grief and manipulated by a woman he no longer loved.
I didn't read a single word. I forwarded every message directly to Arthur Sterling for the evidence file.
On Thursday morning, the first major board meeting of Vance Global took place without Flynn.
Under the emergency clauses of the corporate bylaws, when a controlling CEO faces felony charges involving domestic terrorism or violent crime, the board has the authority to vote on temporary suspension.
Arthur represented me via video link as the largest individual shareholder outside of Flynn’s direct voting block—a fact Flynn had conveniently forgotten when he convinced me to sign over my pre-nuptial voting rights waiver three years ago, a waiver Arthur had quietly invalidated months ago due to contractual fraud.
"The board recognizes Mabel Vance as acting chair of the emergency executive committee," the lead independent director announced over the conference call speaker.
Flynn, dialing in from a private conference room downtown, shouted through the speakerphone line, "You can't do this! This is my company! Mabel, you bitch, drop the injunctions!"
"Mr. Vance, your microphone has been muted," the corporate secretary stated coldly.

With a single click of a mouse, Flynn was cut off from his own empire.
Within minutes, the board voted unanimously to strip him of his CEO title, freezing his executive compensation and launching an internal forensic audit into corporate funds. It turned out Selina hadn't just manipulated Flynn emotionally; over the past two years, she had funneled nearly twelve million dollars of corporate subsidiary funds into shell companies under her mother’s maiden name—and Flynn had authorized every single transfer without reading the audit sheets.
