Chapter 14 - The Convergence of EmpiresWhile Daniel descended into the abyss of his own making, Victoria’s world continued to expand with mathematical precision.

Back at the Whitmore Tower, an encrypted video link blinked green on her desktop monitor. It was an international secure conference connecting San Francisco, Zurich, and London.
On the screen appeared her cousin Marcus, alongside the chief financial officers of the European and Asian branches.
"The transition of the Hayes tech patents into the Whitmore-Vance IP portfolio has cleared international copyright arbitration without a single objection," Marcus reported, looking sharp in his dark suit. "Furthermore, the venture capital board in London has officially approved the multi-billion-dollar green infrastructure bond."
"Excellent," Victoria said, reviewing the digital signatures scrolling across the bottom of her screen. "Ensure that the philanthropic endowment fund for urban tech education is separated from the commercial assets before market close. I want zero exposure to legacy liability."
"Already done," Marcus nodded. "By the way, Victoria, your father asked me to pass along a message."
"Oh?" Victoria raised an eyebrow. "What did my father say?"
"He said: ‘Tell my daughter she fights like a true Whitmore. The wolves always starve when they try to bite a mountain.’"
May you like
Victoria smiled faintly. "Thank my father for me, and tell him I expect him on the golf course in Palm Springs this weekend."
As the secure connection closed, Victoria leaned back in her chair. The vast, sparkling expanse of the San Francisco Bay stretched out beneath her window. She had taken a shattered foundation, cleaned out the rot, and built a sanctuary of absolute independence.
