Chapter 28 - The Final LedgerLate that evening, alone in her high-rise office at the Whitmore Tower, Victoria unlocked the bottom drawer of her obsidian desk.

She pulled out a small, velvet-lined box. Inside sat the crumpled, ink-stained one-dollar bill that Daniel had once thrown onto her plate—metaphorically speaking, through the chain of events that started at that infamous dinner party, and later mirrored in the dark tales of corporate sabotage.
She took the bill out, unfolded it completely, and laid it flat against the smooth glass surface of her desk.
Marcus walked into the office, carrying a final set of international audit reports. He glanced at the dollar bill on the desk, then at Victoria.
"Still keeping that souvenir?" Marcus asked quietly.
"It’s not a souvenir, Marcus," Victoria said, her voice steady and serene. "It’s a reminder. It reminds me that noise is cheap, power is quiet, and integrity is the only currency that never devalues."
Marcus smiled, placing the audit reports down. "Well, the audits are clean. The board is unanimous. Vance-Whitmore is officially the most stable financial entity on the globe."

"Close the drawer, Marcus," Victoria instructed softly.
Marcus closed the velvet box, sliding it back into the dark recesses of the desk, where it would remain as a monument to the foolishness of those who mistook kindness for weakness.
