Chapter 5 - The Legal RealityThe next morning, the financial news headlines across the globe were brutal.

HAYES DYNAMICS COLLAPSES FOLLOWING FOUNDER’S PUBLIC SCANDAL; WHITMORE CAPITAL PULLS ALL BACKING.

Victoria sat in her corner office on the fiftieth floor of the Whitmore Tower, sipping a cup of black coffee as she reviewed the corporate restructuring documents.

Marcus knocked lightly on the door and walked in, dropping a thick sheaf of papers onto her desk.

"The bankruptcy filing for Daniel's personal accounts was processed an hour ago," Marcus said. "His creditors are circling like sharks. The Pacific Heights penthouse has been completely cleared of Khloe’s belongings, and her employment termination letter was delivered to her apartment at 8:00 AM sharp."

"And Khloe herself?" Victoria asked without looking up from her tablet.

"Blackballed from every tech and marketing firm on the West Coast," Marcus chuckled softly. "Word travels fast when you publicly insult the primary venture capitalist family of Silicon Valley. No startup will touch her with a ten-foot pole."

Victoria nodded slowly. "What about Daniel?"

"He's currently crashing on a friend’s couch in Oakland, trying to figure out how to pay for a cheap lawyer," Marcus replied. "He asked if he could speak to you one last time."

Victoria locked her tablet and leaned back in her ergonomic leather chair, looking out over the magnificent San Francisco skyline.

"Tell him there's nothing left to discuss," Victoria said quietly. "The microphone was open. Everyone heard the terms of his new beginning."
