Chapter 11 - Rebuilding the EmpireWith the legal battles behind me, I turned my full focus toward building something greater out of the ashes of my old life.

My independent data consultancy firm, Bennett Analytics, had grown exponentially over the past year. Leveraging the high-profile media coverage of the Chicago General corporate corruption scandal, major healthcare providers and financial institutions across the country rushed to hire my firm to audit their internal compliance systems and prevent internal fraud.
I wasn't just surviving anymore. I was dominating.
I expanded our headquarters into a sleek, modern office space on the 40th floor of the Willis Tower. I hired a team of elite data analysts, forensic accountants, and cybersecurity experts—women and men who had been overlooked or undervalued in traditional corporate structures.
One afternoon, my chief operations officer, Sarah, walked into my glass-walled office holding a thick binder.
"Rachel, the quarterly acquisition reports are in," Sarah said with an excited grin. "Not only have we secured the Midwest healthcare contract, but our net revenue has increased by three hundred percent compared to last year."
I looked over the numbers, a quiet sense of triumph washing over me. Every single metric represented independence, resilience, and unyielding strength.
"Good work, Sarah," I smiled, closing the binder. "Let’s schedule a board meeting for tomorrow morning. I want to pitch our expansion into international markets earlier than planned."

Sarah paused at the door, turning back with a knowing smirk. "International markets? Sounds like someone is planning another trip."
"Always," I replied smoothly. "Except this time, I’m the one holding all the tickets."
