The ballroom of the Willis Tower sparkled under crystal chandeliers. Hundreds of industry leaders, medical ethicists, and tech innovators mingled, celebrating a new era of corporate transparency.

As I stood at the podium to deliver the keynote address, I looked out across the sea of attentive faces.
