The federal restitution funds recovered from his hidden offshore accounts had been fully processed, with a portion legally redirected toward building a new, free-access trauma counseling center at Chicago General—managed independently by a board of ethics I personally selected.

Sophia Vance, who had spent months evading jurisdiction, had finally accepted a plea deal in a separate federal district, sentenced to thirty months for corporate wire fraud and healthcare kickback distribution.

The nightmare was officially over. Not a single thread of that fraudulent past remained tangled in my life.
