Chapter 9 - A New DawnAdrian stared at the silver ring resting on the polished wood. A cold wave of panic washed over him. "Clara... please. Don't do this. We can co-parent. We can live in the same house—"

"No, Adrian," Clara interrupted gently, though her eyes brooked no argument. "The woman you married died five years ago at the bottom of that cliff. The woman standing here today is not Clara Whitmore, the obedient wife. I am Clara Vance, the majority shareholder of Whitmore Enterprises, and I am launching my own global foundation for victims of betrayal and corporate fraud."
She turned toward the double doors, where little Sophie was standing quietly in the doorway, holding a small travel bag.
"Mommy, are we ready?" Sophie asked, her voice filled with quiet strength.
"Yes, my love," Clara smiled, her face instantly lighting up with warmth as she looked at her daughter. "We’re ready."
Adrian rushed forward, panic breaking through his stoic exterior. "Where are you going? You can't just leave! This is your home!"
"This was a cage, Adrian," Clara said, stopping at the door and looking back at him one last time. "You can keep the mansion. You can keep the title. But Sophie and I? We are going to live. Truly live."
"And me?" Adrian’s voice cracked, the ruthless billionaire reduced to a broken man pleading for scraps of affection. "What about me?"

Clara offered him a faint, bittersweet smile. "You have your empire, Adrian. Now, go rule it alone."
With that, she turned, took her daughter’s hand, and walked out of the study, leaving the massive doors open behind them.
