Chapter 14 - The Strike

The Architect did not hesitate. The exact moment Enzo’s physical presence faded from the district, the invisible trap snapped shut with ruthless efficiency. At midnight, Marco received a silent alarm alert from the shop's panic-hardened security system. When Marco and an assault team kicked the front door open three minutes later, the interior was terrifyingly pristine. The orchids and roses were untouched. Not a single vase was cracked.

But Elena and Mia were gone.

In the center of the mahogany checkout counter, resting directly on top of a pristine white ledger, sat a single, polished black chess piece: a knight. It was a taunting, visual message left behind by an enemy who knew how to flank defenses without breaking the front gate.
