Chapter 6 - The UnravelingPanic gripped Victor Sterling’s chest like a vise. He tried to puff out his chest, attempting to invoke the shield of his high-society connections, the politicians in his pocket, the federal judges who dined at his estate.

"You can't touch me, Falcone!" Sterling hissed, his voice rising in desperate defiance, loud enough for the trembling crowd to hear. "I have contracts! I have government backing! If anything happens to me, the entire municipal police force, the DA, and half the federal senate will come down on your head like a ton of bricks!"

Enzo didn't blink. He didn't raise his voice. He simply reached into his pocket, pulled out a small, folded piece of paper, and dropped it onto the glass-strewn bar beside Sterling.

"Your contracts are void, Victor," Enzo said calmly. "And your friends in high places? They received a package from me ten minutes ago containing every offshore bank account, wire transfer, and text message linking your shell company to the Red Serpents' extortion ring."

Sterling’s eyes widened in horror. He snatched the paper off the bar. It was a printed balance sheet—not just his property acquisitions, but a detailed, itemized record of every illegal bribe, extortion payout, and money-laundering scheme he had run over the past decade.

"How... how did you get this?" Sterling choked out, his knees finally buckling slightly. "That server was encrypted! It was stored off-site!"

"You hired amateurs to protect your secrets, and you hired amateurs to clear your streets," Enzo said, turning his back on him with absolute disdain. "A kingdom built by cowards always collapses the moment a real storm arrives."

"Wait!" Sterling lunged forward, grabbing at the sleeve of Enzo's jacket. "Please! Name your price! Whatever you want—my shares, my properties, my entire portfolio! Take it all! Just don't—"

Marco stepped between them instantly, a heavy hand locking around Sterling’s wrist and twisting it backward with effortless, bone-crushing authority. Sterling let out a sharp cry of pain, collapsing to his knees on the marble floor.

"Never touch him," Marco warned, his voice low and lethal.

Enzo didn't even look back as he walked toward the grand exit. "Keep him alive, Marco. The authorities will arrive in five minutes to collect their new tenant. Make sure he has a front-row seat to the liquidation of his entire empire."

As the heavy oak doors closed behind Enzo, the ballroom erupted into chaotic whispers. The untouchable Victor Sterling was finished, dismantled in less than five minutes by a man who had simply decided that a little girl deserved justice.

And out on the street, sliding back into the waiting shadows of his Maybach, Enzo Falcone felt a strange, profound realization wash over him.

The walls he had built around his heart for thirty years weren't protection. They were a prison. And breaking them open was the best thing he had ever done.
