Chapter 13 - THE SECOND GHOST | "I Watched Live News Coverage of My Own Execution... Broadcast from Three Different Cities at Once."

The safehouse was a hidden communications bunker built into an abandoned cold-war silo outside Portland.
Clara stood before a wall of glowing monitors as Julian tapped into global news feeds. What she saw on the screens sent a chill straight through her spine.
LONDON: A woman with Clara’s exact face was tackled by armed tactical units in the middle of Piccadilly Circus, shot through the heart on live television.
TOKYO: A woman with Clara’s face was dragged out of a high-speed bullet train, her body burning with blue electrical sparks before collapsing on the platform.
BERLIN: A third double was cornered on a rooftop, stepping backward into the abyss rather than allowing herself to be captured.
"They're purging the remaining network node units," Julian explained, typing furiously on his terminal. "Olympus realizes that Subject Zero—the original Clara in Zurich—is trying to commit suicide through her clones. To prevent her from destroying their master database, they are hunting down every synthetic vessel in existence."
"Except me," Clara said, staring at her reflection in the dark monitor glass.
"Because your neural lock is different," Julian said, turning to look at her. "When you wiped your memory on the train in Chicago, you accidentally locked the core override key behind a genuine human psychological wall. You aren't just a synthetic vessel anymore, Clara. You became a real person with organic emotional density. They can't hack you remotely. They have to capture you alive and physically extract your brain."
Suddenly, the lights in the silo flickered. The monitors flashed red, and the heavy blast door at the top of the silo stairs began to groan under immense hydraulic pressure.
A voice echoed through the silo’s internal intercom—a voice that was cold, smooth, and chillingly familiar.
"Hello, Seven," spoken not by Arthur, nor by Julian, but by a woman whose tone was a terrifying mixture of mechanical precision and motherly love. "Thank you for surviving. I need your eyes to see the light one last time."
It was Subject Zero. The original Clara Vance speaking directly through the silo's security speakers.
"She’s inside the system," Julian hissed, pulling two assault rifles from the rack and handing one to Clara. "She’s controlling Olympus’s automated strike teams!"
Clara took the rifle. Her hands didn't shake. The muscle memory had returned with violent, lethal perfection. "She wants me to come to Zurich."

"It's a death trap, Clara!"
"It’s not a trap," Clara said, chambering a heavy round into the receiver. "It's an invitation. And I'm tired of running from a face I see in the mirror every morning."
