Chapter 10 - The Last Lie and The Final Will

Vivian dropped to her knees on the stage, weeping hysterically—not from sorrow, but from the brutal realization that her entire life had just vanished. Julian tried to scramble past a camera crew, but two federal agents tackled him to the carpet, slamming handcuffs onto his wrists as the national live feed captured every single second of his disgrace.
From the side balcony above the stage, Grace and Adrian walked down the stairs, carrying Leo safely in a baby carrier wrapped securely against Adrian’s chest.
The media turned as one, cameras swarming them. But Adrian held up his hand, his stature towering and authoritative once more.
"The truth is out," Adrian said into the nearest news microphone, his voice cutting through the madness. "And the monsters who murdered my wife and tried to take my son will spend the rest of their lives behind bars."
Three weeks later.
The rain had cleared over the Harrington estate. The estate was quiet again, the pool sparkling softly under a crisp autumn sun.
In the grand study, a senior estate lawyer sat across from Adrian and Grace. On the desk lay an official leather-bound document stamped with the seal of the High Court.
"Mr. Harrington, Miss Vance," the lawyer began, adjusting his glasses. "Before your late wife Evelyn passed away, she executed a secret, legally binding codicil to her personal living trust—one that was held in a blind vault unknown even to Julian."
Adrian looked at Grace, confused. "A secret codicil?"
"Evelyn was a brilliant woman, Adrian," the lawyer said softly. "Months before her death, she began to suspect she was being poisoned. She didn't know who to trust inside the company, so she created a safety net."
The lawyer opened the document and read aloud:
"In the event of my death under suspicious circumstances, full voting control of my 40% stake in Harrington Enterprises, as well as joint legal guardianship of my son Leo, shall instantly transfer into an irrevocable trust managed exclusively by my sister, Grace Vance."
Adrian blinked, breathless.
The entire multi-billion-dollar empire—the controlling stake that Julian and Vivian had murdered and ruined lives for—had belonged to Grace the entire time. She wasn't just Leo’s nanny. She was the rightful legal head of the entire Harrington estate.
Grace sat in shock, looking down at her hands.
Adrian looked at her for a long moment. Then, slowly, he reached across the mahogany desk and took her hand in his. There was no anger in his eyes—only deep reverence, gratitude, and an unmistakable spark of something new.
"You came into this house to avenge your sister," Adrian said softly, his voice full of emotion. "And you ended up saving my life and my son's life."
"I did what Evelyn would have wanted," Grace whispered, tears sparkling in her eyes.
"Grace," Adrian said, standing up and pulling her up with him. "The trust gives you total control. You could walk away with the company today. You could fire me."
Grace looked down at little Leo, who was toddling across the rug, laughing as he reached for a plush toy, healthy, safe, and happy. She looked back up at Adrian, seeing the man who had been willing to fight the entire world to protect his child once he knew the truth.
A soft, genuine smile touched Grace’s lips—a warm, radiant smile that filled the quiet room.

"I'm not firing you, Adrian," Grace said softly. "In fact... I think Leo still needs his father. And I think this family is just getting started."
Outside, the sun broke through the clouds, illuminating the Harrington mansion, no longer a cage of secrets, but a home rebuilt on the ultimate truth.
