Chapter 17 - A Moment of Peace

Two weeks after the digital siege, the estate finally settled into an enduring calm. The threats from the old guard had been thoroughly eradicated, and the transition into legitimate corporate governance was moving ahead of schedule.

It was a crisp Sunday afternoon. The autumn leaves carpeted the sprawling lawns of the Morty estate.

Mia was running across the grass, chasing a golden retriever while laughing hysterically. Alina sat on a wrought-iron bench, wrapped in a cashmere shawl, reading a financial report.

Footsteps approached softly. Lorenzo sat down beside her, gently pulling the report from her hands and placing it on the grass.

"No more ledgers today," Lorenzo commanded softly. "The empire can run itself for a few hours."

Alina leaned back against his shoulder, letting out a long, contented sigh. "I still can't believe we survived all of it. The maids' quarters, the assassins, the commission, the corporate raids..."

"We survived because you never stopped fighting," Lorenzo said, wrapping his arm around her waist and pulling her close.
