Chapter 14 - THE CLEANUP AND THE CROWNBy sunrise, the subterranean bunker had been completely secured by federal agencies working under deep-cover Moretti directives. Uncle Marcus was loaded into a heavily armored transport vehicle, bound for a maximum-security medical detention facility where his brilliant, twisted mind would spend the rest of its days locked away from the world.

The city above continued its daily routine, completely unaware that a catastrophic underground explosion had been averted by a former housekeeper and her three-year-old daughter.
Back in the penthouse, the shattered balcony glass had already been replaced by a team of emergency contractors, and Emma was fast asleep in her canopy bed, clutching her platinum Moretti bracelet as if nothing had ever happened.
I sat at the mahogany desk in Alessandro’s private study, staring at the glowing monitor where Marcus’s encrypted mainframe data was currently being wiped clean by our security team.
The door opened softly, and footsteps crossed the Persian rug. A warm, heavy wool jacket draped over my shoulders.
"You should be resting," Alessandro said quietly, pulling a chair up beside mine and sitting down. He looked tired, the lines on his face etched with the weight of everything we had survived over the past year.
"I can't sleep," I sighed, resting my head against his shoulder. "Every time I close my eyes, I keep thinking about how close we came to losing everything."
Alessandro reached over, taking my bandaged hand in his large, warm palm, gently pressing a kiss against my knuckles.
"We didn't lose anything, Elena," he said, his voice deep and steady, anchoring me to the present moment. "We won. The council is restructured, the traitors are gone, my uncle is locked away, and our family is safe. The Moretti empire isn't built on glass or concrete—it's built on people who refuse to break."
I turned my head, looking up into his dark, piercing eyes. The man who had once been feared as a ruthless, untouchable crime lord was looking at me with a tenderness and devotion that defied every dark legend of the underworld.
"And what happens now?" I asked softly. "No more hidden bunkers? No more secret bloodline wars?"
May you like
Alessandro smiled—a slow, confident, devastatingly handsome smirk.
"No more hiding," he promised, leaning in to press his lips softly against mine. "Just us. Reigning over a city that finally knows who truly runs the show."
