Chapter 8 - THE FINAL CROWNThe tension on the rooftop was so thick it could have been sliced with a knife. My father, Victor Vance, stood cornered, the dead detonator still clutched in his trembling hand, while Emma continued to sob softly against his heavy tactical vest.

"Dad," I cried out, taking a few steps forward past Alessandro’s protective arm. "Please... give her to me. You don't have to do this. You don't have to live in the shadows anymore."
Victor looked down at Emma, her small hands clutching the platinum-and-black-diamond Moretti bracelet around her wrist. For a long, agonizing moment, the fierce, hunted look in my father's eyes melted away into deep, profound exhaustion. The fifteen years on the run, the paranoia, the endless cycle of revenge—it had finally broken him.
With a heavy sigh that was almost lost in the wind, Victor slowly lowered Emma into a standing position on the concrete pad.
"Go to your mother, little one," Victor whispered softly.
Emma didn't hesitate. She scrambled away from his boots and came running full speed toward me. I dropped to my knees, scooping her up into my arms, burying my face in her curly hair as hot tears streamed down my cheeks.
Alessandro kept his pistol raised until two of his elite guards stepped forward, gently securing my father's arms behind his back with heavy tactical zip-ties. They didn't rough him up; they treated him with a strange, grim respect reserved for legends of the underworld.
"Take him to the private medical wing," Alessandro ordered his men, his voice steady and calm. "Give him a warm meal, clean clothes, and a doctor. He stays under house arrest in the east wing—not as a prisoner, but as family."
Victor stopped, looking back over his shoulder with a mixture of shock and reluctant admiration. "You're not going to lock me in the holding cells?"
"You're Emma's grandfather," Alessandro replied simply, sliding his pistol back into its shoulder holster. "And more importantly... you're Elena's father. The debt between our families ended tonight."
Three days later, the storm clouds over Manhattan cleared away, replaced by a brilliant autumn sunrise.
The grand ballroom where Vanessa’s fake pregnancy had been dramatically exposed three months ago was now bathed in warm, golden light once again. But this time, there were no lies, no deception, and no hidden daggers.
Three hundred elite guests stood in respectful, silent awe as the doors opened.
I walked down the long, polished marble aisle draped in a stunning white-and-emerald wedding gown, my arm linked securely through my father’s—who walked beside me with his head held high, completely pardoned and officially integrated into the new Moretti dynasty.
Waiting at the altar was Alessandro. He wore a sharp black tuxedo, his dark eyes fixed entirely on me with a devotion that defied every dark legend whispered about him in the underworld.
And standing right between us as our flower girl, wearing a miniature matching white dress and flashing her platinum Moretti family bracelet proudly in the sunlight, was Emma.
As I reached the altar, Alessandro took my hand, his warm fingers intertwining with mine. He leaned in close, his lips brushing my ear as the applause of the ballroom began to swell around us.
"Welcome home, Mrs. Moretti," he whispered. "The cleaning days are officially over."

I smiled, looking down at our daughter before turning my gaze back to the man who owned my heart, my past, and our entire future.
The game of shadows was finally won. And our crown was secure.
