Chapter 29 - The Final VerdictJulian’s smug smile faltered for a fraction of a second. “Metadata? What are you talking about? The files speak for themselves!”

“They certainly do,” a cool, authoritative voice echoed from the doorway.

Marcus Vance strode into the auditorium, carrying a thick, certified federal dossier bearing the seal of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. He walked directly to Catherine’s side and slammed the dossier down onto the table.

“Allow me to enlighten you, Mr. Vance,” Marcus said, looking around the room at the startled board members. “Three days ago, your IP address in downtown Miami accessed a restricted server directory belonging to the Vale Foundation. What you didn't realize is that the files you downloaded were part of an advanced cybersecurity honeypot containing digitally watermarked mock-documents.”

Julian’s face drained of color. “That’s... that’s impossible.”

“It gets better,” Marcus continued smoothly, pulling out a certified digital forensics report. “Not only did you illegally hack into protected foundation infrastructure—a federal felony under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act—but you and your associate, Ms. Langford, attempted to distribute fabricated documents to media outlets to initiate corporate extortion.”

Just then, the heavy double doors of the auditorium swung wide open.

Three federal marshals in dark tactical gear stepped into the room, their badges gleaming under the recessed lighting. They walked with steady, unhurried precision straight toward Julian Vance.

“Julian Vance,” the lead marshal announced, his voice echoing across the silent room. “You are under arrest for corporate espionage, computer hacking, unauthorized data theft, and extortion. You have the right to remain silent...”

Julian stumbled backward, his chair tipping over and crashing loudly against the polished floorboards. “No—wait! This is a trap! She set us up!”

“Yes, Julian,” Catherine said softly, standing up from her seat and looking down at him with absolute composure. “I did.”

As the marshals clamped the steel handcuffs around Julian’s wrists and hauled him out of the boardroom, the remaining board members sat in stunned, reverent silence. No one spoke. No one questioned her authority ever again.
