Chapter 14 - The New FoundationTwo months later, the Wilmington estate had transformed into a haven of peace and renewal.

Jessica’s mother was thriving in her new coastal environment, her days filled with sunlight, ocean air, and the gentle care of dedicated nursing staff funded entirely by the trust allocation.

Meanwhile, Jessica was sitting at a mahogany desk in her newly converted home office, surrounded by stacks of legal casebooks, highlighters, and a steaming mug of black coffee.

Her laptop screen glowed brightly with an acceptance letter from the University of North Carolina School of Law.

Her phone buzzed beside her keyboard. It was a text from Evelyn Vance: “Just wrapped up the final probate filings for the Wilmington estate. All assets are officially transferred and fully secured. How are classes treating you, counselor?”

Jessica smiled, her fingers flying across the keyboard as she replied: “Ask me after my first torts exam. But I think I’m going to like fighting for people who actually know how to build real foundations.”

She locked her phone and turned her attention back to the constitutional law textbook open before her. She wasn't just surviving anymore; she was thriving, building an unshakeable career dedicated to ensuring that no one would ever be blindsided by deception the way she had been.
