Chapter 19 - The Blackwood Dynasty

Three months later, the spring thaw had finally reached Chicago, bathing the grand grounds of the Blackwood estate in vibrant green lawns and blooming cherry blossoms.
The media storm surrounding Serena Montigue and Julian Thorne had long since faded into a distant tabloid memory, replaced by official federal reports detailing the complete dismantlement of an international syndicate—with anonymous whistleblowers from the Blackwood Corporation credited for saving national security.
Inside the main foyer of the mansion, the marble floors gleamed under the afternoon sun.
Today, the house was filled with the soft sounds of classical piano music and laughter. A small, intimate gathering of trusted allies and close friends had gathered for a quiet, elegant ceremony under the grand glass atrium.
There were no press cameras, no corrupt politicians, and no hidden enemies.
Lily stood before the floor-to-ceiling mirror in the master suite, wearing a breathtaking, custom-designed ivory silk gown that cascaded gracefully to the floor. The emerald-green ring sparkled brilliantly on her left hand, catching the sunlight as she adjusted her veil.
The heavy oak door swung open quietly.
Victor stepped into the room. He wore a pristine, tailored black tuxedo, his sharp silver-threaded tie impeccably knotted. But it was the look in his eyes—completely stripped of the cold, lethal menace that the underworld feared, replaced by overwhelming warmth and adoration—that stole Lily’s breath away.
"You look..." Victor paused, searching for the right word, before shaking his head with a soft chuckle. "...indescribable."
"And you clean up remarkably well for a mafia boss," Lily teased gently, walking over to meet him halfway across the room.
Victor wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her close, resting his forehead gently against hers. "Today, I’m not a boss. I’m just a man marrying the woman who saved his soul and protected his son."
Before Lily could reply, a soft, happy squeal echoed from the doorway.
Little Ethan—now running steadily on his own two feet, his right arm completely healed without a single trace of his former injury—waddled into the room, wearing a miniature tuxedo vest that matched his father's. He held a small velvet pillow in his hands, upon which rested their wedding bands.

"Dada! Mama!" Ethan cheered, toddling over and wrapping his little arms around Lily’s legs.
Lily dropped to one knee, scooping the little boy up into her arms, while Victor wrapped his arms around both of them, pulling them into an unbreakable embrace.
