Chapter 3 - The Hidden Archive

Before Serena could utter another scream, the heavy double doors of the medical suite swung open. Marcus, Victor’s chief head of security, strode into the room carrying a sleek, military-grade tablet. His face was grim, carrying the look of a man who had just uncovered something deeply rotten.

"Boss," Marcus said, pausing respectfully before handing the tablet to Victor. "You asked me to check the perimeter archives and the internal sensor logs for the East Foyer. We found a blind spot exploit."

Serena’s breathing hitched sharply. She lunged forward with a desperate, clawing motion, trying to snatch the tablet from Victor's hands. "Don't look at that! It's—it's edited! It's a deepfake designed by her to frame me!"

Marcus sidestepped effortlessly, letting Serena stumble forward onto the rug.

Victor didn't even flinch. He pressed play on the high-definition video file.

The screen illuminated the dim room with crystal-clear footage from the overhead architectural camera—an angle Serena had clearly forgotten existed when she planned her cruel outburst. The audio was pristine, capturing every harsh word, every sickening sound of the infant's cries, and the brutal, unprovoked kick to Lily’s stomach.

The video played out in agonizing detail: Serena grabbing Ethan by the arm, twisting it deliberately to shut him up, and then turning to threaten Lily with cold, sadistic satisfaction.

Victor stood completely motionless as the video looped for a second time. The silence in the room grew heavy, suffocating, and lethal.

"You said..." Victor’s voice dropped to a terrifying whisper, barely audible over the hum of the medical equipment. "...that she was lying."

Serena collapsed onto her knees, all her sophisticated composure shattering into pathetic fragments. She clawed at the hem of Victor’s overcoat, her fingers leaving white streaks on the expensive fabric. "Victor! Please! It was stress! The wedding planning, the pressure of your enemies, the media... I cracked! I didn't mean to hurt him, I swear to God, I just wanted him to quiet down so we could talk!"

"You called him a parasite," Victor repeated, his face completely expressionless. "You broke the arm of my flesh and blood because he inconvenienced your afternoon."

"I'll leave!" Serena sobbed hysterically, her mascara running down her cheeks in black streaks. "I'll pack my bags right now! You’ll never see me again! Just... don't do this, Victor. Think of our families, think of the merger—"

"Your family’s shipping empire," Victor interrupted coldly, "was built on my grace. And as of three minutes ago, my financial advisors have already liquidated every single asset your father owns."

Serena froze, the color draining entirely from her face. "You... you didn't."

"Marcus," Victor said, turning his back on the weeping woman. "Take her to the lower vault. Make sure she is comfortable. She has a very long, very educational conversation waiting for her in the dark."

"No! NO! VICTOR!" Serena screamed as two massive security guards hauled her off the floor, dragging her kicking and screaming toward the private service elevator. Her frantic cries echoed down the corridor until the heavy steel doors slid shut, cutting her off from the world entirely.

Victor stood in the center of the room for a long, quiet moment. Then, he turned back to Lily, who was still sitting quietly by the corner, clutching Ethan’s small woolen blanket to her chest.

"Are you alright?" Victor asked, his voice unexpectedly gentle.

Lily looked up, blinking away her tears. "I’m... I’m fine, Mr. Blackwood. More importantly... is Ethan going to be okay?"

Victor walked over to the glass partition where Dr. Vance was holding up an X-ray film, nodding with professional reassurance. "The doctor says the break is clean. He’ll be in a cast for six weeks, but he’ll make a full recovery." Victor turned back to Lily, his dark eyes softening just a fraction. "Because of you, he didn't suffer permanent nerve damage. You saved my son's life twice in six months, Lily. I don't know how to repay that."

"You don't have to repay me," Lily whispered, standing up and walking over to check on the sleeping baby through the glass. "I love him. That's all that matters."

Victor watched her profile in the dim light, a complex emotion flickering across his hardened features. He had thought Serena was the picture of elegance and loyalty. He had been blind. But looking at Lily—bruised, exhausted, yet fiercely protective—he realized something profound was shifting in the dark, dangerous empire he ruled.

And the true storm hadn't even begun yet.
