Chapter 7 - THE ARCHITECT OF LIES

Emily felt a sickening wave of dizziness wash over her. Memories—fragments of her childhood she had buried long ago—began to flash violently behind her eyes.

Late nights in her father’s lab. Cold silver electrodes placed against her temples. Her father’s gentle voice whispering: "If anything ever happens to us, Emily... just remember the nursery rhyme. The numbers are hidden in the music."

"You're insane," Emily whispered, backing her head against the cold steel of the helicopter wall. "You can't extract code from a human mind!"

"With modern neuro-imaging, we certainly can," Julian smiled sinisterly. "It will be a painful process, of course. It usually results in total brain death for the subject. But the key to controlling the global banking system is well worth one casualty."

The helicopter began its descent, landing on a massive, floodlit helipad in the middle of an isolated offshore oil rig modified into a high-tech fortress.

Emily was dragged out of the aircraft and forced down a spiral staircase into a sterile, white underground laboratory. In the center of the room stood a massive metallic chair equipped with head restraints and dozens of fiber-optic cables.

Standing beside the chair, wearing a white lab coat and holding a syringe, was a man whose face made Emily’s heart shatter into a thousand pieces.

"No..." Emily gasped, her knees nearly giving out. "No... it can't be..."

The man turned around. He looked older, his hair silvered at the temples, but the face was undeniable.

"Hello, Emily," the man said softly, his eyes filled with a terrifying, clinical detachment.

"Dad?" Emily choked out, tears finally breaking through her stoic defense. "You're... you're alive?"

Dr. Arthur Vance, the man she had spent fifteen years mourning, set down the syringe and walked toward her. "I am alive, my sweet girl. And tonight, your purpose is finally complete."

The betrayal she had felt from Mr. Harrison, from Vanessa, from Viktor—it was nothing compared to the crushing, suffocating horror of looking at her own father and realizing he wasn't the victim.

He was the mastermind.

"You... you faked the crash," Emily sobbed, her body trembling violently. "You let me think you were dead! You let Harrison take me!"

"I needed a secure environment for you to grow while the neural encryption matured in your subconscious," Arthur explained calmly, as if discussing a scientific experiment. "Harrison was a fool who thought he was using me, when in reality, I was using him to fund this entire facility. Now, sit in the chair, Emily. Let Daddy take his code back."
