Chapter 11 - The Inheritance of LiesThe silence in the grand foyer was so absolute you could hear the grandfather clock ticking its slow, agonizing seconds. Marcus stood frozen, his eyes darting from the official birth certificate to Elena’s unblinking, steely gaze.

"Your... your child?" Marcus finally managed to whisper, his voice cracking. "How is that possible? The agency said you had experience in domestic care, references, background checks—"
"A wealthy man who only sees what he pays for is easily fooled, Mr. Vance," Elena replied smoothly, stepping further into the expansive living room as if she owned it—because, legally, she soon would. "Your high-priced security agency didn't check the forged credentials because Victoria was the one who hired me. She wanted someone quiet, someone she could control, someone she thought she could easily frame when her elaborate lies collapsed."

"Victoria brought you here?" Marcus shook his head, his hands trembling. "Why? If that’s your child, why play maid? Why put him in danger?"
"Because Victoria stole him from the hospital maternity ward six months ago, paying off a corrupt administrator when she realized she couldn't conceive an heir to trap your fortune," Elena said, her voice dropping into a dangerous chill. "I spent six months hunting her down. When I found out she was married to you, I didn't just want my son back. I wanted absolute, undeniable proof of her crimes, captured on camera, legally validated, and witnessed by the man who trusted her."
