Chapter 12 - The Freezing CellMiles away, in the harsh, fluorescent-lit holding facility, Victoria paced her cell like a caged panther. Her designer heels were gone, replaced by standard-issue orange slippers.

"Where is my counsel?" Victoria shrieked, slamming her palms against the thick glass divider when the guard approached.

"Your counsel just dropped you, Mrs. Vance," the guard said monotonously. "And the District Attorney has upgraded your charges. It’s no longer just attempted murder of a minor. It’s kidnapping, identity fraud, and extortion."

Victoria’s breath hitched. "No. No, that’s impossible! Marcus loves me! He’ll protect his wife's reputation!"

"Mr. Vance filed for an emergency annulment thirty minutes ago," the guard replied with a faint smirk. "Citing fraud. And he’s handed over the complete server logs proving you orchestrated the entire framing of Ms. Rostova."

Victoria’s legs gave out, and she slid down the cold concrete wall, her manicured fingers tearing at her hair. Her empire of glass had just shattered into dust.
