Chapter 2 - Rewind to HorrorThe glowing blue screen of the smart-hub flickered to life. Marcus’s trembling fingers tapped the touchscreen, pulling up the live feed and navigating back fifteen minutes.

Speed: 4x. Date: Today. Time: 4:14 PM.

The video window popped up. There was the sparkling pool. There was Victoria, standing suspiciously close to the stroller while Elena was inside fetching a towel.

Marcus leaned in so close his nose nearly touched the glass. His heart hammered against his ribs like a caged animal. On screen, Victoria looked around—once, twice—making sure the coast was clear. Then, with a cold, deliberate shove of her manicured hands, the stroller rolled forward.

Splash.

The image of his helpless infant plunging into the deep end tore a guttural roar from Marcus’s throat. But the horror didn't stop there. The video showed Elena bursting through the sliding glass doors seconds later, kicking off her shoes, and diving in without a second thought to drag the baby to safety.

Marcus stared at the screen, then down at his own hand—the hand that had just struck the innocent maid. A sickening wave of nausea washed over him.
