Chapter 8 - Unearthing the PastThree days later, Victoria sat in a holding cell, awaiting arraignment. Her high-priced defense attorney sat across from her, looking grim.

"Victoria, the prosecution has the security footage. They also have your voice recording confessing to the act. It’s an open-and-shut case of attempted murder of a minor. Unless you have an ace up your sleeve, you’re looking at ten years minimum."

Victoria smirked, her manicured fingers tapping rhythmically on the metal table. "An ace? Attorney, I am the whole deck."

"What are you talking about?"

"Marcus thinks he’s so smart with his security cameras," Victoria laughed, a chilling, hollow sound. "He thinks he caught me red-handed. But he didn't check the server logs from three weeks ago. He doesn't know why I pushed that stroller."

"Because," Victoria whispered with a predatory grin, "that baby isn't even his."
