Chapter 5 - Sirens in the NightThe wailing shriek of police sirens shattered the neighborhood peace, cutting through the darkness with flashing red and blue strobes. Two cruisers pulled hard into the driveway, their tires crunching violently against the gravel.

Victoria’s knees buckled. She dropped to the patio floor, her manicured nails clawing uselessly at the stone. "You called the cops on me? After everything I gave up for you?!"

"You gave up nothing. You took everything," Marcus said flatly.

Officers swarmed the patio. Two female officers hauled Victoria to her feet, slapping cold steel handcuffs onto her wrists. As they dragged her past Elena—who was still sitting quietly on the ground—Victoria let out a feral hiss.

"This isn't over, Elena! You think you won? You're just a hired hand! He'll throw you away too!"

Elena didn't even blink. She watched Victoria get shoved into the back of the patrol car without uttering a single word. Silence was a weapon, and she wielded it masterfully.
