Chapter 18 - THE CONFRONTATION AT THE EDGE😱 FACE-TO-FACE WITH DEATH! VESPERA CORNERED AS THE ENTIRE SYNDICATE CRUMBLES! 🔥

"It's over, Vespera," Gabriel said softly, stepping forward. His weapon was holstered. He didn't need it.

Vespera backed up against the cold iron door, drawing a small chrome derringer from her sleeve. Her hand was shaking violently.

"Stay back, Gabriel!" she hissed, her elegant facade completely stripped away, revealing the desperate, cornered predator underneath. "I still have the legal signatures! I still have the trust documents!"

"Those documents were declared null and void an hour ago by the Federal Supreme Court," Gabriel said calmly, taking another step closer. "Your accounts are frozen. Your allies have put a price on your head. And your mercenaries have surrendered."

"I built this!" Vespera screamed, her voice cracking in the damp concrete corridor. "I spent fourteen years crafting this trap! I lived in your mansion as a servant! I cleaned your floors! I played the humble maid while you lived like a king!"

"You didn't play a maid, Vespera," Gabriel replied, his voice dropping into a low growl. "You played yourself. You thought money and power were the only things that mattered. You used your own daughter as a piece on a chessboard."

"Lucy was a tool!" Vespera shrieked, aiming the derringer straight at Gabriel's heart. "Just like Clara was! Just like you were!"

Gabriel didn't dodge. He walked directly into the barrel of the gun until the cold steel rested against his chest.

"Pull the trigger then," Gabriel whispered, looking directly into her frantic eyes. "See if it saves you."

Vespera’s finger tightened on the trigger. Sweat ran down her face. But as she looked into Gabriel's eyes—completely devoid of fear, completely filled with absolute resolve—her hand began to tremble even harder.

She realized, with a sickening thud in her chest, that she had lost. Not because Gabriel had outgunned her, but because he had something she could never understand or steal: people who were willing to die for him out of loyalty, not money.
