Chapter 9 - THE ULTIMATE CONFRONTATION💥 BLOOD IN THE WATER! FATHER VS. SON IN A HEART-STOPPING FINAL STANDOFF! 😱

Lightning flashed across the pitch-black sky, illuminating the two men standing on the slick, rain-slicked deck of the yacht as fifty-foot waves tossed the vessel violently.

"Put the gun down, Dad," Gabriel said, stepping slowly up the stairs, his weapon pointed dead-center at his father’s chest. "It’s over. The Bureau has seized your accounts. The Moretti family has wiped out your safehouses. You have nowhere left to run."

Julian laughed—a bitter, hollow sound that was swallowed by the roaring wind. "You think this was about money? You think this was about shipping routes? Look at you, Gabriel! You were born to rule an empire, and you wanted to spend your life sitting in corporate boardrooms playing nice with politicians!"

"I did it for my children!" Gabriel screamed back. "I did it so Leo and Maya wouldn't have to live with blood on their hands like we did!"

"Your children are Rowans!" Julian yelled, raising his revolver. "And a Rowan never kneels!"

BANG!

A shot echoed across the deck.

Julian’s eyes widened in shock. He looked down at his chest, where a small red blossom was rapidly spreading across his pristine charcoal vest.

He didn't fall forward. He stumbled backward against the low stern railing as the yacht took a massive hit from a cresting wave.

Gabriel hadn't fired.

He looked over his shoulder. Standing at the bottom of the stairs, holding a smoking tactical sniper rifle, was Hannah Bennett.

"That was for Clara," Hannah said, her voice steady and icy cold against the wind.

Julian looked at his son one last time, a terrifying, bloody smile touching his lips. "You... still don't see it... do you, Gabriel?" Julian gasped out, coughing up dark blood. "You think... you won..."

A massive wave slammed into the stern of The Sovereign. Julian's body tipped over the low railing, plunging into the black, icy depths of Lake Michigan, swallowed instantly by the roaring abyss.

Gabriel stood frozen in the rain, his father's final words echoing in his head like a death knell. You still don't see it... do you, Gabriel?
