Chapter 19 - Blood Ties Broken

Dominic fell to his knees on the slick, rain-soaked concrete of the roof, surrounded by the burning debris of Sterling’s empire.
Noah stepped onto the roof, holding his sidearm low, his face dripping with rain and tears.
"It's over, brother," Noah said, his voice breaking over the sound of the wind. "There's nowhere left to run."
Dominic looked up at his brother, his face distorted with madness and defeat. Slowly, he reached for a concealed secondary weapon in his ankle holster.
"Don't do it, Dom!" Noah begged, stepping forward. "Don't make me do this!"
"I'd rather die than spend my life in a cage, Noah," Dominic spat. He drew the weapon and pointed it directly at Dorian's back.
Noah didn't hesitate. A single gunshot rang out across the rooftop, swallowed almost instantly by the thunder above.
Dominic gasped, dropping the weapon as the bullet struck his chest. He stumbled backward, his heels catching the low perimeter railing of the roof. For a brief second, he looked into Noah's eyes—a look of sudden, horrifying regret—before his balance gave way, and he fell backward into the dark void below.
Noah rushed to the edge, looking down into the darkness, sinking to his knees in the pouring rain, sobbing uncontrollably.

Dorian walked over, placing a heavy, warm hand on Noah’s shoulder. He didn't say a word. He didn't need to. In the dark world they inhabited, grief was a luxury bought with blood.
Dorian turned around and headed back down the stairwell, rushing back to the only thing in the universe that mattered to him.
