Chapter 11 - THE QUEEN WHO RETURNED FROM THE DEAD

The sterile, fluorescent lights of the underground archive seemed to flicker under the weight of the silence.

Dante’s arm lowered, the heavy Sig Sauer slipping slightly in his grip as he stared at the woman standing before them. Elena Orelio. Alive. Breathing. Unscathed by the fire that had supposedly consumed her five years ago.

"You're dead," Dante said, his voice a low, gravelly rumble that carried a terrifying undercurrent of shock and suppressed rage. "We buried your remains. We had the DNA confirmation from the Moretti-backed forensics team."

Elena let out a soft, cold laugh, stepping further into the light. The resemblance to Elina was uncanny, yet the aura surrounding Elena was forged in ice and ambition.

"Forensics can be bought, Dante. Just like coroners, judges, and half your inner circle," Elena replied smoothly, her dark eyes darting briefly toward Elina, who stood frozen in stunned disbelief. "I had to vanish. The syndicate was swallowing me whole. So I staged my own funeral, handed the reins to a corpse, and watched from the shadows while you tore yourselves apart trying to find a ghost."

Elina’s heart pounded against her ribs. She’s my twin. The realization hit her like a physical blow. All her life she had believed she was entirely alone in the world, only to discover that her mirrored reflection was a ruthless syndicate queen who had faked her own demise.

Before Dante could step toward her, Elena raised a single gloved hand. Behind her, heavy boots echoed down the corridor as a dozen heavily armed mercenaries stepped out of the shadows, their weapons leveled directly at Dante, Vera, and Elina.

"Don't do anything foolish, my love," Elena smiled, her gaze shifting to baby Leo, who was now babbling happily in his carrier. "Especially not in front of our son."
