Chapter 4 - THE WOLF'S TRAPBefore Elina could process the revelation, a sudden, piercing sound shattered the heavy silence of the penthouse.

BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.

Marco’s encrypted satellite phone flared to life with a red flashing light. He snatched it up, listened for three seconds, and his face turned the color of chalk.

"Boss," Marco said, his voice tight. "The perimeter sensors at the eastern gate just tripped. It’s not a stray animal. It’s a clean breach. Professional grade."

Dante’s entire demeanor shifted in a fraction of a second. The brooding father vanished, replaced instantly by the ruthless mafia warlord who ruled the city's underworld with an iron fist. His hand slid beneath his jacket, coming away with a heavy, black Sig Sauer pistol that he checked with practiced, lethal speed.

"Vera, take Leo and Elina to the panic room behind the master suite. Now."

"No!" Elina protested, pulling back even as little Leo stirred and whimpered against her chest. "I’m not hiding like a coward! If someone is breaking in because of me—"

"Because of us," Dante corrected sharply, grabbing her arm with a grip that was firm but not bruising. His dark eyes blared into hers. "You think coincidence brought you to my restaurant tonight? Someone orchestrated this. They wanted you to cross paths with my son. They wanted us to know you're alive."

"Dante! They're cutting the main power grid!" Vera yelled as the crystal chandelier overhead flickered once, twice, and then plunged the entire grand foyer into deep, shadowy gloom. Emergency red strips lit up along the baseboards, casting an eerie, bleeding light across the room.

Heavy boots echoed from the hallway below. Voices—cold, methodical, and armed—spoke in crisp tactical military code.

The Moretti syndicate had found them.
