Chapter 12 - SHATTERED LOYALTIES"Our son?" Dante spat the words out like poison, taking a hard step forward regardless of the weapons pointed at his chest. "You abandoned him! You left a newborn in a burning war zone and let everyone believe you were murdered just to execute some twisted power play?"

"I left him protected," Elena corrected sharply, her expression hardening for a fraction of a second. "I knew the Morettis were planning a coup from within. If I stayed, we all would have died. I stepped back to let the rot expose itself—and look what it brought us." She turned her gaze fully onto Elina, a strange, analytical curiosity flashing in her eyes. "My sweet, ignorant sister. Did you enjoy playing nursemaid to my husband?"

Elina bristled, stepping out from behind Dante’s shoulder. "I didn't ask to be dragged into your mafia games! I was just working a double shift, and now I'm caught in the middle of a war between two psychopaths!"

Elena tilted her head, studying Elina’s fierce expression. "Oh, you have spirit. Much more than I had when they first pulled us apart at birth. You should thank me, Elina. By bringing you here, I've reunited our bloodline."

"You used me," Elina hissed. "Marco didn't just stumble onto me; you set up the meeting at the restaurant so Leo would react to me, didn't you?"

Elena didn't deny it. A chilling smile touched her lips. "Leo needed someone with his mother's blood to calm him when the panic alarms sounded. Who better than his aunt, carrying an identical scent and heartbeat?"

"Enough!" Dante roared, the sheer fury in his voice echoing off the concrete walls. He raised his pistol, aiming squarely at Elena’s chest. "Call off your guards, Elena. This ends right now."
