Chapter 12 - The Perimeter BreachMidnight at the Vance estate was usually a time of peaceful quiet, but tonight the air hummed with tension. High-grade motion sensors bathed the perimeter walls in a pale, amber glow, while private security teams patrolled the grounds with assault rifles and night-vision gear.

Inside her bedroom, seventeen-year-old Isabella sat at her desk, staring at the old silver key Marcus had given her weeks ago. The weight of responsibility rested heavily on her shoulders. She wasn't just a survivor anymore; she was the primary target of an international syndicate.

BEEP-BEEP-BEEP.

The private security console on her desk flared red.

Sector 2: The North Garden Wall.

Before Isabella could reach for her encrypted comm-device, the power throughout the entire mansion instantly cut out. Total, suffocating darkness enveloped the estate, broken only by the stuttering flash of red emergency backup strips along the baseboards.

A heavy, muffled explosion echoed from the west wing, shattering glass and blowing a reinforced security door off its hinges.

"Intruders! Active breach!" Marcus’s voice bellowed over the estate’s encrypted intercom system. "Get the kids to the subterranean safe room now!"
