Chapter 21 - The Gates of Stanford

The warm California sun beat down on the sprawling, historic sandstone archways of Stanford University as Isabella stepped out of Marcus’s black SUV. The transition from the sheltered, protective environment of Santa Esperanza to the elite, fast-paced world of higher education felt like stepping onto a different planet.
"You've got everything you need?" Marcus asked, leaning over the center console with a look of affectionate parental worry that made Isabella smile.
"Laptop, textbooks, self-defense gear, and enough snacks to survive a nuclear winter," Isabella joked, adjusting the strap of her backpack.
"Good. Remember, our private security detail is stationed off-campus, but they're twenty seconds away if you need anything at all," Marcus reminded her firmly.

Isabella nodded, hugging Marcus goodbye before stepping onto the bustling quad. As she walked toward her freshman dorm in Roble Hall, she felt a profound sense of liberation. The Obsidian Network was dismantled, Victor Thorne and Commander Logan were locked away in maximum security, and her past was officially buried.
Or so she thought.
