Chapter 25 - The Gala of a New Era

Six months later, the grand reopening gala of the former Sterling Institute—now magnificently redesigned as the Sinclair Global Center for Reproductive Autonomy—was the event of the year.

The crystal chandeliers of the grand ballroom caught the light of a thousand candles, reflecting off the polished marble floors where diplomats, world leaders, renowned scientists, and philanthropic pioneers mingled under a sprawling glass dome overlooking Central Park.

I stood at the head of the grand staircase, wearing a custom emerald-green silk velvet gown that swept the floor with quiet elegance. My hair was styled in soft waves framing my face, my posture radiating the absolute, unshakeable confidence of a woman who had conquered her darkest storms.

Beside me stood Arthur Vance, looking distinguished in a classic tuxedo, and Dr. Evelyn Vance, who now served as the chief medical director of the new research facility.

"Ladies and gentlemen," Arthur’s voice boomed softly through the discrete sound system, drawing the attention of the entire ballroom as he tapped a small silver spoon against his champagne flute.

The room instantly quieted down, hundreds of faces turning upward toward the staircase.

"History often remembers powerful families by the names carved into their monuments," Arthur began, his eyes smiling warmly as he looked at me. "But true power is not measured by what you hoard, destroy, or control. It is measured by what you heal. Tonight, we celebrate a new era—an era founded not on corporate exploitation or genetic manipulation, but on autonomy, resilience, and unconditional love."

He extended a hand toward me. "Allow me to introduce the founder, the visionary, and the heart of the Sinclair-Vance legacy: Clara Vance-Sinclair."

A thunderous, rolling wave of applause filled the grand ballroom. Flashbulbs erupted like a constellation of stars. I stepped forward, resting my hand lightly on the polished brass railing, feeling the collective energy of a room filled with people whose lives had been changed for the better.

As I began to speak—sharing my story not as a victim of a broken past, but as the architect of a liberated future—my eyes drifted toward the tall arched windows overlooking the Manhattan skyline.

Far down below, amidst the bustling crowds of the city, life moved at its frantic, unpredictable pace. But here, inside this sanctuary of light and truth, the ghosts of Greenwich were gone forever.
