Chapter 34 - The Trap is Set

The realization that Jonathan Vance was not merely launching a corporate hostile takeover, but a biological assault against my children, stripped away every remaining vestige of diplomatic restraint. In the war for my family, there were no rules left to break.
I called an emergency closed-door meeting at Vance Manor later that evening. Only Arthur, Julian Thorne, and Dr. Evelyn Vance were present. We sat in the grand library, the fire crackling softly in the stone hearth, casting a warm amber glow over the rows of leather-bound books.
"We cannot fight this in a standard courtroom," Julian Thorne stated, pacing across the Persian rug. "If Jonathan has filed an emergency medical petition in an overseas jurisdiction citing hereditary health necessity, a corrupt judge could issue a provisional subpoena demanding genetic cross-referencing under the guise of public health protocols."
"Which is precisely what he wants," Dr. Evelyn added, her voice tight with professional fury. "He wants to force a court-mandated medical extraction, using legal oversight as a smokescreen to harvest biological samples from the triplets."
I sat quietly in the leather armchair, my hands resting calmly folded in my lap. I looked down at the gold ring on my finger—a symbol of the empire I had built out of the ashes of my old life.
"Then we won't wait for him to file the subpoena," I said softly.
Arthur paused, raising his white eyebrows. "What do you have in mind, Clara?"
"Jonathan thinks he is the smartest predator in the room," I replied, a cold, dangerous smile touching my lips. "He thinks he can operate in the shadows of international law. We are going to invite him out into the light. We are going to offer him exactly what he wants—on our terms."
Julian stopped pacing. "You want to bait him?"
"We leak a manufactured vulnerability," I explained, leaning forward. "Marcus will plant a secure, encrypted file on a compromised server—a file indicating that one of the triplets has exhibited a minor, highly unique genetic marker anomaly that makes their biological profile uniquely compatible with Jonathan's degenerative condition. We make it look like an internal medical leak from Mount Sinai Hospital."

Arthur stroked his chin, a slow, approving grin spreading across his aged face. "A siren song. He's dying, and he's arrogant. If he thinks the prize is within arm's reach, he won't send his lawyers or his proxies. He'll come himself to verify the data."
"And when he steps onto American soil to execute his private acquisition," I concluded, standing up to face them, "federal marshals and international Interpol agents will be waiting to arrest him for corporate espionage, international extortion, and medical conspiracy."
