Chapter 38 - The Quiet Shore

Later that afternoon, our motorcade returned to Vance Manor just as the sun began to dip toward the horizon, painting the Atlantic in brilliant strokes of gold, amber, and violet.

The estate was a sanctuary of peace. The heavy iron gates parted automatically, welcoming us home.

As the car door opened, three small figures came barreling across the emerald lawn, laughing and shouting in a chaotic, joyful race to reach the steps.

"Mommy! Mommy!" Liam, Leo, and Lily cried out, tumbling into a joyous heap around my legs as I stepped out of the vehicle.

I dropped to my knees, opening my arms wide and gathering all three of them into a fierce, unbreakable embrace. They smelled of sunshine, grass, and pure, unadulterated childhood.

Arthur Vance walked slowly down the stone pathway, leaning on his obsidian cane, watching us with a deep, profound sense of paternal pride shining in his aged eyes.

"They're getting too big for you to carry all at once, Clara," Arthur chuckled warmly.

"They'll never be too big," I smiled, looking up at him, my heart overflowing with a gratitude so vast it defied words.

We walked together up the grand stone steps, the ocean breeze carrying the sound of the waves crashing against the cliffs below—a steady, eternal rhythm of life, resilience, and rebirth.
