Chapter 10 - The New BeginningSix months after that fateful New Year’s Eve, the air in Brooklyn was warm and breezy.

It was a Saturday afternoon in July. The sun was shining brilliantly over Prospect Park, where families were picnicking on the lush green grass, children were laughing, and the city felt alive with possibility.
Maya and I were walking side-by-side along the shady pathways, pushing a modern, state-of-the-art stroller carrying Liam. At six months old, Liam was thriving—chubby-cheeked, bright-eyed, and giggling as his little fingers batted at a dangling toy mobile overhead.

Maya burst out laughing—a bright, clear, joyful sound that echoed across the park grass.

"You’re ruthless," she teased, leaning over to kiss my cheek.
"I’m just a family man," I replied, wrapping my arm around her waist and pulling her close as we watched our son reach out toward the summer sky. "And right now, I have the only family that ever truly mattered."
