Chapter 19 - The Return of the Lion

Before Valentina could press the detonator, the heavy iron reinforcement doors behind her blasted inward with a deafening roar.
Rocco Moretti stepped through the smoke, his black coat billowing around him like the wings of a dark angel. Flanked by Marco and an elite unit of international enforcers, he didn't raise his voice, but the sheer terrifying aura of his presence made the armed mercenaries drop their weapons in absolute terror.
Valentina spun around, her face draining of all color. "Rocco... how—you were in Sicily!"
"You really thought a decoy flight plan would keep me from protecting my home?" Rocco asked, his voice dropping into a register so cold it froze the air in the room. He walked slowly toward her, each step echoing like the tolling of a death bell.
"Kill him!" Valentina shrieked to her remaining guards, but none of them moved. They knew the legend of Rocco Moretti; crossing him was a guaranteed ticket to the grave.
Marco stepped forward, swiftly disarming Valentina and snapping heavy steel cuffs around her wrists. She thrashed and screamed, her composure completely shattering as she realized her grand revenge had crumbled into dust.

"Take her back to where she belongs," Rocco ordered without breaking eye contact with her. "This time, place her in solitary confinement beneath three layers of federal rock where she will never see the sun again."
As Valentina was dragged away, screaming curses into the empty corridor, Rocco turned his attention to his son and Sophia.
