Chapter 17 - THE SUNSET AT STERLING ESTATE

Three weeks later, the terrifying nightmare of the Zurich syndicate was finally, permanently buried.

Federal courts issued a sweeping, multi-jurisdictional RICO verdict that dismantled Viktor Vance’s global cartel down to its last penny. Every stolen asset, hidden trust fund, and illegal offshore account was seized and redirected by federal judges into a newly established charitable foundation: The Luna Vance-Sterling Pediatric & Family Protection Fund.

At the Sterling estate in Fort Lauderdale, the warm afternoon sun poured through the wide glass doors, casting a golden hue over the polished mahogany floors.

Luna sat cross-legged on the plush living room rug, wearing a bright yellow sundress, coloring in her sketchpad with a fresh box of sixty-four crayons while Mr. Bear—now sporting a brand-new blue ribbon—sat propped up beside her.

Marina walked in carrying a tray of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, setting them down on the coffee table with a warm, radiant smile.

"Alright, little artist, break time. Cookies are ready," Marina announced lovingly.

Luna looked up, her big green eyes shining with absolute happiness. "Can Dad have two?"

"Only if he finishes checking his port logistics reports," Richard’s voice echoed warmly as he walked into the living room, loosening his tie and dropping down onto the rug beside her.

Luna giggled, handing him a cookie shaped like a dolphin. "You work too much, Dad. Even Mr. Bear says so."

Richard laughed, pulling her into a gentle bear hug that made her squeal with delight. He looked over at Marina, who knelt beside them, joining the embrace.

The road they had traveled to get to this moment had been paved with danger, betrayal, and terrifying near-death experiences. But looking at the family gathered around him, Richard knew that every single trial had been worth it.
