In the rearview mirror, the grand luxury mansion—his family’s ancestral home, now a glowing white monolith of digital tyranny—stood like a monument to human arrogance. Around the perimeter fence, thousands of gray-suited figures stood in absolute, eerie silence, watching his car tear through the wrought-iron gates.
Lily had finally fallen asleep in the passenger seat, her head resting against a spare jacket, her breathing soft and even.
In the backseat, Bruno sat upright, staring out the back window at the fading lights of the estate, his dark expressive eyes reflecting the flashing white glow of the global network pulsing across every screen in the dashboard.
Damian gripped the steering wheel so hard his knuckles turned white. His right forearm throbbed with agonizing pain from where the elevator door had crushed it, but his mind was crystal clear.
