Chapter 15 - The New World OrderThe blast doors of the Alpine Research Station blew inward in a cloud of dust and pulverized concrete as an explosive charge detonated from the outside.

Sophie stepped through the smoke, flanked by a dozen gray-suited operatives. Her maid's uniform was gone, replaced by an executive tactical suit. She walked calmly to the shattered terminal, looking down at the ruined hardware with a cold, detached smile.
"He took the physical seed," the lead operative reported, tapping his earpiece.
"Let him run," Sophie replied smoothly, pulling a small silver tablet from her pocket. She watched the satellite tracking dot blink as it moved rapidly down the mountain trail toward the valley below. "The global firmware update reached one hundred percent three minutes ago. Damian thinks he’s fighting a corporation. He doesn't realize he's already fighting the entire world."
She turned and looked out the blown-out bunker doors toward the horizon.
Across the globe, in every major city from New York to Tokyo, billions of smartphone screens, digital billboards, and television monitors simultaneously flashed a single, unified message:
PEACE IS ACHIEVED. CONFORMITY IS SAFETY. WELCOME TO THE NEW ERA.
Deep in the back of a speeding, bullet-ridden Mercedes-Benz tearing through the torrential rain, Damian looked down at Lily, who had fallen asleep against his shoulder, her breathing completely calm and normal.
