Chapter 12 - The Alpine BunkerThe heavy steel bulkhead of the Alpine Research Station groaned as Damian wrenched it open, the rusted hinges protesting after twenty years of abandonment.

He carried Lily inside, wrapping her shivering frame in his wool coat, while Bruno trotted in behind them, sniffing the damp, stale air with intense concentration. The bunker was a relic of the Cold War—concrete walls four feet thick, completely shielded from electromagnetic pulses and external satellite surveillance.

Damian found an old kerosene lamp on a metal workbench, struck a match, and filled the subterranean room with a warm, flickering amber glow.

"Daddy... is the bad man gone?" Lily asked softly, rubbing her eyes as she woke up on a dusty canvas cot.

"Yes, my love. We're safe here," Damian lied, offering her a reassuring smile that didn't reach his terrified eyes. He set the micro SD card onto the metal table beside an old analog terminal that still ran on an independent diesel generator.

"Bruno, guard the door," Damian commanded.

The massive Cane Corso trotted over to the blast door, sitting rigidly like an obsidian statue, his ears perked toward the long, dark concrete tunnel leading back to the surface.

Damian approached the vintage terminal. He blew a thick layer of dust off the mechanical keyboard, plugged a custom military-grade adapter wire into the back of the port, and slotted the pulsing micro SD card into the drive.

The monochrome green screen flickered to life. A text prompt blinked slowly in the center of the CRT monitor:
