Chapter 10 - The Final StitchThree months later, the New York underworld had a new legend.

They didn't talk about the drive-by shooting that nearly killed Gabriel Falcone. They didn't talk about the betrayal of his sister or the disgraced surgeon rotting in a federal penitentiary.

They talked about the girl who smelled of bleach and textile fibers, the invisible cleaner who had stared down a syndicate war and emerged as the most feared auditor in the city.

It was a crisp autumn evening. The Manhattan skyline glittered across the Hudson like a field of scattered diamonds.

I stood on the expansive marble balcony of the Falcone estate, draped in a midnight-blue silk dress that cost more than my mother had earned in two years of sweatshop labor. My hair was styled in sleek waves, and around my neck hung a delicate diamond pendant—a gift from Gabriel marking my official induction into the inner circle.

Footsteps echoed softly behind me on the marble floor.

Gabriel stepped out onto the balcony, holding two crystal flutes of vintage champagne. He handed one to me, his fingers brushing mine.

"Penny for your thoughts, partner," Gabriel murmured, leaning against the balcony railing beside me.

I took a slow sip of the crisp champagne, looking out over the city lights that stretched as far as the eye could see.

"I was just thinking about my mother," I said softly, the memory washing over me without pain anymore. "She spent her entire life working in the dark, handling threads she couldn't control, fixing things other people broke, and getting nothing in return."

Gabriel turned his head, watching me intently. "And now?"

I turned to face him, meeting his steady, unwavering gaze with a smile that matched the cold, glittering skyline.

"Now," I said, raising my glass in a silent toast, "I hold the scissors."

Gabriel smiled back, a fierce, approving light shining in his dark eyes. He clinked his glass against mine.

"To the best investment I ever made."

"To the only one who mattered," I replied.

Down below us, the city roared with life, completely unaware of the unbreakable empire forged in blood, betrayal, and six black stitches. And as Gabriel pulled me close against his side under the New York stars, I knew one thing with absolute certainty:

No one would ever pull the wool over our eyes again.
