That evening, sitting by the grand stone fireplace in the living room of my newly purchased, sun-drenched coastal home, I poured myself a cup of warm tea and looked out through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows at the golden sunset melting into the ocean horizon.

My phone buzzed gently on the coffee table. It was a text from David, inviting us over for a celebratory family dinner to mark the one-year anniversary of my company's official launch.
