Chapter 5 - The Corporate VultureWhile Samuel focused entirely on Clara’s transfer to Boston, back in New York, the corporate vultures were circling his empire.

In the executive boardroom of Andrews Global, Vice President Richard Sterling slammed his palm onto the mahogany table, glaring at the assembled board of directors.
"Are you all telling me that Samuel Andrews has abandoned a twenty-billion-dollar merger over some sick woman in a small-town Ohio dump?" Richard demanded, his face contorted with corporate rage.
"He's liquidated fifty million in liquid assets over the last twenty-four hours, Richard," the chief financial officer replied nervously. "He’s buying up residential blocks in Ohio under a private trust. He’s completely distracted."

Richard smiled—a cold, calculating, predatory grin. "Good. If Samuel wants to throw away his empire for a childhood sweetheart, then let him. We invoke Clause 14 of the corporate bylaws. While he's out of state tending to his charity case, we strip him of his voting shares and take control of the board."
Unbeknownst to Richard, however, Samuel’s security team had already anticipated a boardroom coup. Sitting quietly in the back of the conference room, Marcus Vance recorded every word of Richard’s treasonous conspiracy on an encrypted flash drive.
